The fact that Konya’s exports have reached 1.2 billion dollars as of the end of 2011 is highly pleasing. However, this figure is not adequate, considering the potential of Konya. Therefore, we are aiming to increase the province’s exports to the level of 2.5 billion dollars in the next 5 years, and to the level of 15 billion dollars by 2023.

Moreover, we are aiming for our province, which ranks 15th in exports currently, to be listed among the top five by 2023.

The number of exporting companies in our province is also increasing rapidly. During the January-November period in 2010, the number of exporting companies operating in Konya was 1,052. In the January-November period of 2011, this figure has reached 1,172. Our goal is to increase the number of exporting companies of Konya to 1,500 in 2015, and to 2,000 by 2023.

The Province-by-Province Export Potential Research of the Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade clearly demonstrates Konya’s exports potential. According to this research;

In 2010, among our Provinces with Exports of Medium and High Technology Products of 100 Million Dollars and above, Konya ranks 9th by 413 million dollars of exports. This also demonstrates that Konya, known as an agricultural city so far, is also an industrial city.

From the viewpoint of diversity performance in exports, Konya ranks 4th, after İstanbul, İzmir and Ankara, by 104 different products. This fact shows that the available capacity in Konya has the opportunity to manufacture and export more than one product competitively.

From the aspect of Qualified Take-off Structure, Konya is above Turkey’s average, and ranks 4th among 81 provinces. This may be interpreted as that Konya’s potential for qualified exports in different sectors is quite high with its current industrial structure and ability.

The exhibitions organized play a significant role in increasing Konya’s exports and recognition. In the exhibitions organized at the TÜYAP exhibition area in Konya during 2011, the Konya Agriculture 2011 exhibition has ranked 1st by the participation of 332 companies, KONMAK has followed as second by the participation of 164 companies, and Konya Seed as third by 81 companies. The agriculture exhibition is an important exhibition organization that makes Konya’s name heard at the national and international levels and contributes to its promotion. The prominent sector exhibitions in Konya respectively are as follows: Agriculture Exhibition, Machinery Exhibition, Seed Growing Exhibition, City Exhibition and Casting Exhibition.
